Are you a Chilly Dipper?
Winter swimming is growing in popularity, will you give it a go this winter? South West Swim has teamed up with Waterland Outdoor Pursuits to bring back the Chilly Dippers series of events for the 2016/2017 Season.
The dates for your diary are:
November 4th 2017
December 16th 2017
January 27th 2018
March 3rd 2018
Our ethos is still the same…..We want to encourage swimmers into the water during the colder months in a safe and enjoyable manner. Unlike some other winter swimming events the course will be buoyed (in and out, rather than lanes) and you can swim wetsuit or non wetsuit, you can even wear a funny hat. A swim cap, race souvenir or medal (tbc which for 2016/17), swim time and a hot soup and roll will await you at the finish of your event and is all part of the ticket price, as is full on water kayak safety cover.
Our 2016/2017 distances will be from 50m to 1km.
Last year the events were enjoyed by many and became a social occasion with like minded swimmers, and many swimmers tried winter swimming for the first time, progressing their distances and times through the season.
Registration is now open, More information and booking at www.chillydippers.co.uk

*eligibility criteria for swims of 400m plus must be met by all swimmers (wetsuit or non wetsuit). This consists of proof of event finishes, such as a chill swim or other winter swim event, for a swim above 300m in cold water (under 10 degrees). We will also accept proof of a sign off swim from a qualified open water coach (ASA or STA standard) of the 300m distance. Date, Time, Distance and Coaches signature, name and details of qualification in Open water must be included on this proof. We can help out if this is needed for your event.
