South West Swim’s Weekly Tip: Be careful if you are trying to reduce your strokes per length (SPL) as part of your training plan. You may think Its great to cover the pool in as few strokes as possible but be careful you do not start to overglide in your quest. Remember the open water has environmental factors and currents to take into account and any dead spots in your overgliding stroke can hinder your performance. Always try to make sure your lead hand is moving productively rather than being held out in front for an elongated time. Enjoy your swim.
